Letter from Andre Colvius to Anna Maria van Schurman, c. November 3, 1637 (front)

Image Information

This is the front side of a letter written in French from André Colvius to Anna Maria van Schurman dated November 3, 1637. It reads: Dear Miss, So that my letter will please you, I am including some rarities that you have perhaps never seen [Assc. ?] in Persian, Japanese, and from the Kingdom of Siam, where you will find the great city of Odia (Ayutthaya). Please keep all of them. I will content myself with copies that you make yourself and leave you the originals. As for the Chinese one, it is pretty common and I have enough. I hear that there is a Chinese person in Amsterdam who can read their writing (calligraphy ?) I send my greetings to your brother, and as soon as the receiver Mr. Hoogenes, my cousin, has his instructions, I will let him know. For the rest, you know that I desire nothing more than to tell you that I am your very humble servant, Miss. André Colvius 3 November 1637
