Nubia Nurain Khan is a fourth-year PhD candidate in the Computational Media, Arts & Cultures program at Duke University. She received her MA in Art History with a minor in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University in 2022. Her dissertation, Mapping the Art World: The Emergence and Evolution of New York City Art Galleries, 1786–1913, uses quantitative and qualitative methods including GIS, spatial statistics, and network analysis, to study the role of art galleries in shaping New York’s cultural geography.
Her work with Project Vox centers on digital visualization and outreach. She has led efforts to design interactive data visualizations, create edit-persistency dashboards for women philosophers on Wikipedia, and expand Project Vox’s public-facing digital scholarship. Going forward, she is developing visualization strategies that highlight global intellectual networks of women philosophers and will continue building tools to make Project Vox’s research more accessible to both academic and public audiences.
